Contemporary Jewel

The owners of the original, compact and decrepit home wanted a major remodel. Due to the site restrictions, the home could not get larger toward any one side. Consequently, the interior spaces were reconfigured, decks improved and expanded, and the exterior received a facelift.

On the Main/Entry level, the stairs moved to one side to allow for better use of the floor area. From front-to-back, there is now a Breakfast area, Kitchen with sit-down island, Living Room and spacious rear deck. Off to the West side of the deck and tucked behind the Garage is the BBQ and hot tub deck. Inside, new clerestory windows were added between the existing roof rafters to let in indirect light and visually raise the roof. A half-bath was added between the home and the newly enclosed garage.

The open stairs with glass rails and bamboo along one side, access the Middle level. Here the Primary Suite commands Bay views and includes a new, expanded bath. On this level, two separate guest rooms share a bath and there is a sizeable laundry closet tucked in below the stair.

Accessed via side yard stairs along the West flank of the garage, a separate, one-bedroom, one-bath unit enjoys the ground-level patio and views.
